Database Administrator

Roles and Responsibilities
General
- Provide subject matter expertise to others with in S&T and the rest
of the firm regarding
how applications are affected when new projects and
business requirements are initiated.
- Understand and interpret business requirements into a functional
design that can
be proposed to the different practice within the firm
- Research and initiate application ideas that would be useful to the
firm

SQL
- Manage & monitor SQL Server
- Ensure database architecture
- Optimize database architecture
- Perform database space management
- Performance tuning and optimization of database design in an proactive
manner
- Conduct database sizing and capacity planning for development, testing
and
production environments
- Consult/determine/implement database problem resolutions
- Compile and report database performance to determine and maintain
the health
of the SQL Server
- Support, administer and maintain SQL Server 2000 environments running
on Win2003 servers
- Responsible for maintaining defined day to day operating procedure
for SQL Server databases
- Trouble shoot database problems as required
- Enrolling users and maintaining system security
- Account management controlling and monitoring user access to the
database
- Provide some instance level performance monitoring and tuning
- Plan/rehearse database recovery plans

Application Maintenance
- Maintain current Hummingbird document management, Creative Solutions
Go Practice
time and billing. Intranet, Internet and Extranet applications
- Provide Help Desk support, assisting and instructing users on correct
system usage
- Test and apply configuration changes and system upgrades on Hummingbird
DM
- Install system software and maintaining system configuration, including
users,
groups, security and housekeeping jobs
- Provide assistance to users when having issues with time and billing
application
- Resolve issues relating to database integrity if needed
- Responsible for the proper operation of the MS Access based time
and billing application.

Experience
- Strong SQL Server administration experience
- Strong MS Access and Crystal reporting experience
- Hummingbird DM management experience preferred
- Minimum 2 - 4 years experience with similar job responsibilities
