| SUMMARY
Researches, evaluates, recommends, selects, develops, and manages end
user applications to improve efficiencies and expand processes using
products supplied by Information Services. Researches, evaluates and
recommends implementation of third party technology. Changes do not
require the assistance or maintenance of other departments given technical
expertise in system programming. Works with Business Process, Delivery
and Information (BPDI), Head Office Business area teams and field management
to ensure maximum effectiveness of operations, outstanding customer
service and managed expenses. Leads corporate projects to define technological
strategies and solutions. Provides expertise, counsel and leadership
to staff on the use of office technology. Works with a high degree
of autonomy.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Selects, designs, develops, authorizes, and manages end user applications
using products provided by Information Services to ensure maximum efficiency
of workflow, adherence to various provincial legislative requirements
and corporate requirements, and to maintain outstanding customer service
and effective process management minimizing delays and the need for
assistance from other departments to implement changes and day to day
management. This work is completed in consultation and co-operation
with Solutions Architecture and Client Technologies.
- Provides technical advice/support, mentoring and direction to internal
and external users in the functional areas to ensure the effective
and efficient communication and resolution of issues. Develops and
provides data management applications to assist the functional business
areas and other BPDI staff. Provides technical expertise and leadership
on process improvements and technological solutions to ensure outstanding
customer service and effective process management, within the department
and corporately.
- Provides technical leadership to the business side on a wide variety
of corporate projects to define strategy and implement initiatives,
in support of the achievement of department and corporate goals. Assists
in the determination of scope, development, and documentation of requirements,
and the coordination of testing.
- Evaluates and recommends external technology and internet solutions
to support the BPDI Management, Product Co-ordinators, and Training
Co-ordinators as well as others in maximizing the use and effectiveness
of specific programs and/or projects.
- Co-ordinates projects, including testing, as assigned by BPDI management
to assist in the achievement of functional objectives.
Education : Minimum - University or college degree/diploma
Experience: Minimum - Five years of business experience in office applications.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of business practices and processes. Excellent working
knowledge of standard Office Suite products.
- Knowledge of analysis, data and process modelling, documentation
techniques, relational database, process modelling and basic programming.
Excellent written communication skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of legislative and statutory insurance
requirements.
- Ability to understand and interpret policy wordings and coverage.
