| Reporting to the Manager, Application Services, you will be responsible
for
troubleshooting any production database problems, including performance,
minimizing system downtime, and developing a permanent solution. Your
responsibilities will also include on-going monitoring of database
performance,
fine tuning analysis and implementation; preparation and maintenance
of
database documentation; defining detailed technical data requirements
and
other technical entities of the data model of the database. You will
be
responsible for installing PeopleSoft application infrastructure and/or
Oracle
on UNIX and NT platforms and any patches and/or upgrades; apply
customization using PeopleSoft development tools and troubleshoot PeopleSoft
infrastructure/application problems. Other duties include capacity
planning to
ensure sufficient database space for all production jobs and ensuring
completeness and timeliness of database backups/exports in order to
ensure
recovery capabilities in the event of rerun requests, equipment failure
and
declared disasters.
You will liaise with application support teams with respect to troubleshooting
and refining database procedures; respond to inquiries from different
business
teams regarding the status and delivery of application promotions;
and
coordinate with Oracle database administration team members to finish
tasks
within SLA.
You must have 3 to 5 years of Database Administration experience within
an Oracle 7/8/8i environment with a strong knowledge of Relational
database
concepts, internals logic, PL/SQL and Korn Shell scripting. Experience
with
Microsoft SQL server would be an asset. You will have knowledge of
Unix and
NT platforms and experience with PeopleSoft installation and support
would be
a definite asset. Knowledge of Unisen applications and products is
also
an asset.
Your focused, detail-oriented approach to completing tasks is complemented
by your initiative to take charge of a problem, and strong sense of
responsibility
for problem resolution. You can successfully work independently as
well as in
a team, and you are flexible to work early or later shifts as required.

a good researcher with strong organizational skills.
