| The Environment
The systems environment is a combination of mainframe, Client Server
and web based technologies. The mainframe environment consists of MVS,
CICS, COBOL, MQ Series, and the PMS application. The Client Server
and Web based infrastructure include AIX, NT, Oracle, Cognos, SQL,
Visual Age for JAVA, Lotus Notes and data warehousing.
The Position
As a Senior Programmer Analyst you lead by example! You enjoy being

a difference. We require a Senior Programmer Analyst with experience
working with a structured data warehouse and data mart in an AIX and
Oracle environment.
Responsibilities
Investigates and analyzes existing systems and business requirements
in order to provide cost effective and efficient solutions to business
needs.
Designs and develops application code for solving complex problems
in order to meet the business requirements.
Performs all levels of testing, including unit, integration, regression,
system, and user acceptance testing to ensure that applications will
perform error free and according to business specifications when promoted
to production.
Provides planning, organization, and control while leading a small
team of one or two developers in project work to ensure that high quality
solutions are developed to meet business requirements.
Identifies opportunities for Application Services to ensure high quality
in all deliverables and continuous improvement in application development.
Provides mentoring to more junior developers in order to help them
progress in their professional development and optimize performance.
Requirements
Minimum of four years of progressive experience in Information Services.
Minimum of four years of experience in a Programmer Analyst role.
Experience in project development using a system development life cycle
methodology.
Minimum of three years coding (at least two of which coding complex
business requirements).
Demonstrated strong technical skills and ability to learn new skills
quickly.
A flexible and adaptable team player that is customer service oriented.
Experience in mentoring junior staff.
Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills.
Ability to organize and plan tasks effectively.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Technical Skills
Minimum 4 years experience developing in an AIX and Oracle environment.
Demonstrated ability in the use of structured analysis and design.
Strong Oracle PL/SQL skills (version 8 currently in use).
Good UNIX scripting skills.
Previous data warehouse development experience would be preferred.
Experience with ETL tools would be an asset, especially Oracle Warehouse
Builder.
Experience at relational and dimensional data modeling for data warehouses,
preferably using Oracle Designer.
Ability to review and assess technical infrastructure, data sources,
data quality, organizational infrastructure and processes.
Experience with Cognos products such as Impromptu and Powerplay would
be an asset.
Experience with or exposure to IBM mainframe development environment
would be an asset.
Education
Minimum three year college diploma with a major in computer science,
or equivalent experience.
