As a Unix System Administrator, you will support and troubleshoot systems

operating on the Sun Solaris servers. In close collaboration with the

manager and his/her team in Diagnostic Imaging, you will provide backend

support. You will also provide support for other Unix based systems
such as
the firewall, central backup solution, e-mail, calendar, newsgroup
and
corporate file and print services. You will knowledge transfer and
document
as appropriate.

The successful candidate will have a degree in computer science, engineering,

or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of formal education
and
experience.

You have a minimum of five years' experience installing, upgrading
and
supporting mission critical computing environments based on Oracle

and/or Sybase and running on Sun Solaris servers, preferably in a health

care setting. Experience with GE PACS would be a definite asset.

Required skills:
- In-depth knowledge of Solaris 8 and higher.
- Extensive experience supporting and troubleshooting Sun Solaris servers.
- Knowledge of Oracle and/or Sybase, with the ability to write queries
and
generate reports using SQL statements.
- Expert in Check Point Firewall, Legato Networker and Netscape suite
of
e-mail, calendar and newsgroup.
- Ability to program in Korn Shell and Perl.
- Knowledge of CIFS and SMB.
- Working knowledge of DICOM and HL7 standards an asset.
- Good knowledge of the IT industry with particular emphasis on client/
server and/or web-based systems.
- Passionate about learning new technologies.
- Excellent problem solving abilities.
- Proven self starter with sound judgement and decision making ability.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective
working
relationships with others.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to explain technical matters to non-technical staff members.
- Aptitude to work well in a team environment or as an individual.
- Customer service driven and willingness to share knowledge.
- Bilingualism in French/English an asset.

This is a full-time position requiring 37.5 hours per w, occasional

wends, on-call as scheduled. You will report to the Manager,
Client Server & Host Systems.
