| The Embedded Software Development Manager will lead and mentor a
relatively senior embedded software development group engaged in the
development of real time software modules that will configure, trigger,
and monitor hardware subsystems within a new generation of video and
graphics products. The Embedded Software Development Manager will
work with other groups within the company to ensure the timely transfer
of knowledge and to help ensure that all groups are aiming towards
the
same company goals. There will also be some interaction with software
tool vendors and the company’s end customers.
Activities include:
-Lead and mentor the embedded software development group as they
architect, design, develop and test real time software modules and
integrate the software with the target hardware and the rest of the
company’s product.
-Lead and mentor the embedded software development group as they
release, test and troubleshoot software and potential hardware problems.
-Review documentation.
-Provide inter-departmental support to other groups within the company
including ASIC Engineering, Windows Software Development, Algorithm
Modeling, System Engineering and Field Application Engineering.
Required Skills / Background:
-Demonstrated experience managing embedded software development
is a must. Exposure to Rational Suite is an asset.
-Demonstrated experience with real time operating systems (RTOS)
Nucleus PLUS, VxWorks, embedded Linux, or similar RTOS
environment is an asset.
-Demonstrated experience programming integrated circuits and/or
SOCs and/or DSPs including a mix of audio and video algorithms,
device drivers, and communication stacks -- using C is a must
(assembler is an asset).

Education / Experience Requirements:
-B.Sc. Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer
Science.
-Five or more years management experience managing an
embedded software development team including demonstrated
experience in bringing software products through all stages from
concept to high volume manufacturing.
