Evaluates, selects, and installs the Desktop Operating system, Local
Area
Network Operating system, and office application suite. Works in conjunction

with Technical Architect to develop and maintain a reliable, scaleable,

responsive, and recoverable systems environment to meet The
business requirements, improve personal productivity and maintain the

advantage of information technology. Works independently, receives

assignments and direction from Manager, Technical Services.

JOB DUTIES

Maintains a current, reliable, recoverable, and responsive infrastructure

(Desktop, LAN, server) to support The business and user
requirements. Develops, implements and maintains system management

processes and procedures to ensure a dependable systems infrastructure

for users.

Reviews and approves system change requests for technical feasibility,

testing adequacy, risk levels, back out and recovery procedure, estimated

down times, and signs off on the completion of change implementation
to
maintain the quality of systems changes.

Co-ordinates project tasks as required to ensure that business and
application
services solutions are accurate, effective, and timely.

Participates in major functional area projects to provide technical
consultation,
builds desktop and network environments, and develops management and

administrative procedures which meet established schedules and budgets.

Develops training plan for Technical Analyst and IT co-ordinators and
provides
support and guidance to junior staff to ensure staff have the necessary

knowledge and skills to serve users effectively.


SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education
Minimum - Three year college diploma with a major in computer science,
or,
equivalent experience.

Experience
Minimum - Four to six years progressive experience in a LAN environment.

Netware Engineer Certificate an asset

Technical Skills
Knowledge of NetWare 5.x and other network operating systems, Windows

9x/2000/XP, MS Office Suite products, Attachmate, configuring ethernet

ring environment, knowledge of routers and Internet firewall technology,

telecommunication concepts, SANs, personal computer hardware, network

adapter, and commonly used device driver.

Performance Skills
Technical ability, ability to learn, organization and planning, relations
with
others, service oriented, problem solving, decision making, time
management skills.
