| As a senior programmer analyst you lead by example! You enjoy being

require
a programmer / analyst to work on small projects and enhancements to
our
mainframe and UNIX applications. You will be exposed to web applications.
The skills required for this position are CICS and COBOL. Knowledge
with
Oracle and SQL would be an asset.
Responsibilities
-Investigates and analyzes existing systems and business requirements
in
order to provide cost effective and efficient solutions to business
needs.
-Designs and develops application code for solving complex problems
in
order to meet The Dominion’s business requirements.
-Performs all levels of testing, including unit, integration, regression,
system,
and user acceptance testing to ensure that applications will perform
error free
and according to business specifications when promoted to production.
-Creates or modifies all documentation, that is associated with any
application
changes or developments to ensure that applications meet business
needs
and are easily maintainable in the future
-Analyzes and corrects processing errors for applications to ensure
no
disruption to service.
-Identifies opportunities for Application Services to ensure high quality
in all
deliverables and continuous improvement in application development.
Requirements
-Minimum 2 years experience in a programmer/analyst role. Experience
in
development/enhancement project using a system development life cycle
methodology.
-Strong technical skills and ability in a mainframe environment.
-A flexible and adaptable team player that is service oriented.
-Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills.
-Ability to organize and plan tasks effectively
-Excellent verbal and written communication (e.g., liasing with business
units to gather requirements, writing development life cycle documents).
-Technical Skills
-Proficiency in at least one programming language (preferably COBOL)
-Demonstrated ability using structured analysis and design techniques.
-Knowledge of an information services environment. (i.e., Client/Server,
MVS, and tools such as COMPAREX, FILEAID, JCL, etc.).
-Experience with EasyTrieve, Oracle and SQL would be an asset.
-Experience with development on PMS 5.3.7 would be an asset.
Education
Minimum - three year college diploma with a major in computer science,
or equivalent experience.
