| So, India is all for Globalization and outsourcing but, they are afraid
to let Walmart in?
Come on now you can't have your cake and eat it too!

All those call center and software workers need a Walmart to shop in
don't they?

| The US spends $40 billion a year subsidizing crops which would be
much cheaper to import. Europe is guilty of this too.
It took about 20 years to wean China from extreme protectionism.

Although I make fun of India, India still better than America. Because
India know good business sense: sell more than you buy.

India will have its own DesiMart having the same innovations pioneered
by Walmart. If Walmart comes and sets up shop in India, they will get
badly burned, because Indians will buy from DesiMart and no where else.

What are you a politician? You still didn't answer the question.
Why won't Inda allow WalMart in?
I'll answer for you, PROTECTIONISM of Indian retailers.

not necessarily. Walmart's main weapon is pricing. They sell goods at a
loss, destroying small shop owners and then raise prices when the
competition has been wiped off.

> Why won't Inda allow WalMart in?
it will -only after it gets what it wants from the US. the govt has
recently allowed pure retail -meaning that a company that prodices the
same goods it wants to sell can do so right away. Walmart sources goods
from other companies and sells them -so it doesn't contribute to the
economy. A principal on the other hand, may be able to sell goods
cheaper by bypassing middle-men and also offer better customer service.

yes -there is protevtionism at every level in every country/industry.
In order for the govt to let foreign competition in -they would want
the govt in the US to let foreign competition in into the US. The WTO
is not an altruistic body -it is a negotiating table where countries
negotiate based on where they can gain the most.

The highest US crop subsidization rate I coould find was ~$20 billion for
2005.
Perhaps you could provide a source(legitimate) for your $40 b figure?
