Looking for a Directory of freelance/independent computer consultants
|

| Hello everyone
I'm a consultant in New York specializing in Microsoft networks and I
have a little too much on my plate at the moment. I'm looking for
someone who is a full-time consultant who will be available part-time
on a permanent basis, or someone who works evenings and is available
during the day, not someone who is between jobs and looking for
something to hold them over until they find another job. I've found
help on guru and craigslist in the past with moderate success. I
remember seeing a list of independent consultants online with skills
and contact information. It was free and there was no middle man. I
would appreciate any information on free sources for finding
consultants and freelancers in New York.
Thanks
NH

| alt.computer.consultants.moderated newsgroup is a good place to find
consultants and freelancers. They also have various consulting groups that
meet in the NY/NJ, and other, areas.

Why not people who don't have any current work? Would guess you're
scared they'll find a job and leave. Guess what, people "between jobs"
are out of work indefinitely, so odds are low they'll find another job.
People without any other work are probably better because they're less
likely to be burned out.
People who already have jobs probably don't need the money, therefore
if they took on supplemental work, they'd be stealing work from people
who need the money unless they actually retired earlier.
Here's a hint: if you want the work done correctly, go with an
AMERICAN! That won't guarantee good work, but you'll have a much
higher chance of success.
