Hi people!

I'm new to the forum. I have a lot of experience using VB and have built some pretty advanced business applications using it. I decided to go back to college and get my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering.

My question is this:

What would you consider the industry standard programming software for C++? I'm going to purchase the software ahead of the classes that will be teaching it to get a jump on C++. I have limited knowledge of the language already, but I'm certainly not proficient at it. I've used Microsoft's version of the compiler years ago, but I haven't the slightest clue what I should look for these days so that I can use a compiler that is up to date with what everyone else is using.

I could really use some input if anyone can take the time to get me up to speed.

Thanks!
