Credit card rewards API?

| Hi,
We are hoping to have a credit card at our company whose rewards can
be used to purchase additional products from our company. Knowing
absolutely nothing about this, I was curious if anyone knows of, or
has any experience with exchanging data, specifically the rewards
points, with the financial institutions that issue the credit cards.
Grateful for any standards you can point me to or stories you can
share, - Dave

This problem domain is messier than one would hope. Person-years of effort,
unless you buy in a solution.
