okey here's the situation.

we're a 4 man team, going to develop our thesis. which can be summarized in the following keywords: Artificial Life, Simulation, Multi-agent System, Cellular Automata, Genetic Algorithm, Reinforcement Learning

for representation of the simulation we haven't decided whether to go 3d or 2d(but most likely 2d isometric). there's going to be reports manipulation of variables (dynamic/static), graphs etc. coz basically its a sort of management/ decision support system.

now here's the catch. we have umm around 5-6 months of development time. we've been advised to develop it around marketability and userfriendliness(is there such a word) because our target users are more or less government people.

so we're looking at low-end computers, ease of installation, ease of gui construction or atleast availability of eye-candy look and feel.

and then for the point of faster and easier development a friendly and open source community; extensive libraries etc; ease of gui development as well as support in graphics(2d/3d). GREAT IDE :D as well as many dev tools to help speed up the process.

have i covered everything? lol. anyway yeah so there.

now the actual question. right now the languages my team and I are looking at are JAVA, C#, C/C++, and.....i think just that...

i hope this post doesnt cause a flame war but, given this type of situation in development issues what language can you guys advise us to use ? and given the weighty options we need to atleast consider, why?

MANY THANKS TO THE GURUS HERE! :D

myk
noob developer

ps. sorry for the extensive intro but i think this is one of the many development questions that is important because having any help and support in any part of development is ALL GOOD if your developing to deliver. thanks again!!!
