Is your goal to just learn the details of the UML notation or to learn
OO development? If the latter you should start with an OOA/D book
rather than a UML book. The Books category of my blog has some
suggestions for selecting a good OOA/D book. The first suggestion is to
avoid any book with 'UML' in the title. B-) They tend to be more
concerned with how to express a design in UML than with how to develop a
good design in the first place.

Seems to me a search of amazon.com would give an idea of what some good
books are for uml. Read the reviews and if available for the book, read
the contents and whatever other pages are available for preview.

I'm not saying put total faith in the reviews, but if the overall rating is
fairly high, and it has many good reviews, then it might just be a good
candidate.

You can check the "People who bought this one also bought these" links also.
There are also "lists" of books available for many subjects. There might
just be a list of uml books out there somewhere. I think these are called
"listmanias" or something like that.

It's amazing what you can find out there on the world wide web. ;-)
