| Hey there, allow me to introduce myself, im Zac, 15 Years of age and me and my older brother thought of a good idea for a program to help make emulation on a pc even better. The idea of the program is still wip but we have a few basic ideas, Please listen and follow carefully.
1 - Say you want to play some good old Mario Kart on the Snes
2_ You open your ugly windows folders and click your rom
3 - Thats all... Maybe the game cover is set as 'folder.jpg' so in thumbnail view it seems like your looking at the box.
I have thought of a newer idea that comes in the form of a package and resembles a Virtual Console similar to the Nintendo Wii.
The idea is a .exe you can run quickly and easily and choose from a variety of 3d Models of game consoles, they could be actual models or models as animated gifs, anyway, you click the model, they do a spin effect and load up the next folder, instead of just plain folders, its the actual game boxes as a model (or gif)
You click the game you want to play
The box animates and opens revealing the inside of the game case, manual and the game, there all interactive and clicking the manual opens the e-book in manual, clicking the game (cart, disc etc) runs a batch file to open your rom (i have done this with .reg files and batch files to open psx emu's with correct settings) then you can successfully boot your game, with the feeling that your in a actual 'Virtual Game Store'
How did all that sound, make sense?
I have ABSOLUTLY NO programming or modeling knowledge, but would be willing to learn, fast. Do you think that the idea of a model based program could boot these files and how would it perform? Would the models slow down? I plan to make the models composed of the game scaned in, so follow this example i made in photoshop.

As you can see this was made by scanning in the box, and if this is possible i would need a huge team to start scanning in and i would also start a team going.
I would just like to know your opinions on this very basic idea and what would you all reccomend?
P.S THE NINTNEDO DS GAME CASE IS A MOCKUP, I WOULD NEVER EMULATE DS GAMES, AND YOU ONLY SHOULD IF YOU OWN THE GAME YOURSELF ;p |
