Newswatcher and Supernews
Supernews just replaced their server front-end, as I understand it. Now
I'm getting XHDR not recognized. How do I fix this?

Switch to another NSP.....

I subscribed to Supernews because Giganews did not support XHDR.

Giganews recently bought Supernews.

It appears this morning they replaced the Supernews servers with the
Giganews servers.

My Supernews subscription expires in a couple of months.

Can anyone confirm, does Individual Net support XHDR? If so I will
probably replace Supernews with them.

So far I've found I can no longer filter on the References or
Newsgroups headers. If you have any filters like that, try disabling
them.

I suspect I'll move from Supernews to individual.net in the near
future...

Is anyone else seeing a lot of duplicate posts from Supernews?

FWIW, I'm not...

But that said -- having been subscribed to Supernews for a couple of
years now...

Why should I be worried about Giganews buying them out and taking them
over?

I had little problems resetting my groups list (checked all groups this
morning, then redid my group list after the server swap.)

Am I missing something that makes Giganews "evil"? Everything (so far)
seems exactly the same to me as before the swap (after rebuilding my
group lists/article numbers of course...)

*sigh* I know. It sucks major ass. I'm in the same situation.

Giganews, who recently purchased Supernews, doesn't include a lot of
headers in their overview.fmt database, so you will only be able to
filter on these specific headers:

Subject:
From:
Date:
Message-ID:
References:
Bytes:
Lines:
Xref:full

If you want to filter on any other headers, you'll have to switch news
providers.

Does individual.net include all headers in their overview.fmt database?

Yes, and missing posts, and broken filtering because they moved us to
servers that do not include most headers in the overview.fmt database.
This is a day for me. Giganews took a great thing and ruined it, as
far as I'm concerned. >: (
