If you don't mind send the same query to news@individual.net.

I'd ask them myself about the headers but it would be interesting to
see how they respond to the same wording as you sent to the others.

One thing about individual net that would not be a problem for me, but
might be a problem for others, is that they don't carry binary
newsgroups.

Done. We'll see. : )

No problem for me. I'm not interested in binary posts, other than an
occasional curiosity. Most of my news access is purely textual.

I've no opinion on "evil". I am seeing a loss of functionality that I'm
trying to work around. In aprticular, I'm unable to filter on certain
headers that I use EXTENSIVELY and I am seeing a huge amount of spam
that I KNOW Supernews used to kill at the server.

I'll be considering these factors over the next w or so while
weighing a switch to individual.net.

References: seems to be broken here. Is it working for you?

I do have filters that look at the References header, and MT-NewsWatcher
is not showing the 503 error message when I view subscribed news groups.

How do you mean "broken"?

Dunno. They've been spoken highly of in supernews.general and
supernews.support. They use the filtering software that Andrew wrote at
(the old) Supernews.

I have a filter on Newsgroups.

You could just install leafnode on your Mac. The bandwith of pulling
down the spam is hardly going to kill a broadband connection.
