Programming Forum and web based access to our favorite programming groups. There is talk on the Apple discussion forums about iTunes 7.6.1 and how it supposedly chops off the last few seconds on the last track on every CD it imports. Has anyone here had this problem? What did you do about it? -- "No urban night is like the night [in NYC]...here is our poetry, for we have pulled down the stars to our will." - Ezra Pound, poet and critic, 9/18/1912, reflecting on New York City

I work around it by importing the last track in "lossless" format (which doesn't truncate) and then converting that to AAC format. I'm surprised there hasn't been a fix released for this yet, actually. - Steve

I'm wondering if QuickTime and/or what encoding method is used in iTunes, might also be to blame. -- "No urban night is like the night [in NYC]...here is our poetry, for we have pulled down the stars to our will." - Ezra Pound, poet and critic, 9/18/1912, reflecting on New York City

I just experienced this for the first time this evening and tried the "lossless" solution suggested above, but the identical thing occurred. However, I imported as AIFF and all went well. I hope that there's a fix issued soon. Cheers! Mudge -- Life is change: How it differs from the rocks! I've seen their ways too often for my liking. New worlds to gain:_My life is to survive . . . I was thinking the same thing. Don't you just love the people who post to say something is crap without any explanation whatsoever? It's especially funny when they're talking about something that works flawlessly most of the time. -- <http://designsbymike.net/shop/mac.cgi> Mac and gT-shirts & gifts <http://designsbymike.net/election.shtml> Election 2008 goods. <http://designsbymike.net/shop/prius.cgi> Prius shirts/bumper stickers <http://designsbymike.net/shop/greet.cgi> Holiday cards with attitude

But I note you *did* say "most of the time".. ;) Now that I think about it... the only one I used was the Windows iTunes ripper. THAT one - rather than retry when it hit a flaw in a CD would just put a dropout in the ripped song. A 'blank' spot. Every version until I moved to the Mac did the same thing. Regardless of the PC I used. I just got fed up. On Windows I use EAC and LAME - and on that platform there is *nothing* better. I've tried the Mac version of the ripper.. and while I didn't have the problem with dropouts I *did* run into issues where it would simply stall while ripping some of my CDs where CD Stack and Max worked fine. Perhaps it was my media (tho I keep my CDs in pristine shape - they never leave the house, etc).. perhaps it was bugs in iTunes (that later may or may not have been fixed). No idea.. I just know overall I've had better luck with other tools. -- [P]eople [E]ating [T]asty [A]nimals

Me too. In fact I just ripped a CD with iTunes 7.6.1, and it *didn't* truncate the last track. -- "No urban night is like the night [in NYC]...here is our poetry, for we have pulled down the stars to our will." - Ezra Pound, poet and critic, 9/18/1912, reflecting on New York City
