Issue with front panel control update/refresh
Hi..

I am having issues with some front panel controls (boolean and others) being
partially visible to not visible at all.

The controls are not visible when the VI is first opened, however if you mou
se over where the control should be the button sometimes partially reveals,
however will often disappear randomly. Running the VI does not appear to cha
nge anything.

This issue doesn't seem to be consistent across similar types of controls, a
s some buttons are visible, while others are not.

Issue seems to have occured after an update from labview 8.2 to 8.2.1. Have
had a quick look but haven't located any 'known' issues.

Cheers,
mike

Re: Issue with front panel control update/refresh
Have you tried to update the driver of your video card?

Re: Issue with front panel control update/refresh
Hai,
I think may be you can place the control over some boxes or some tabs. Try p
lacing(moving) that control over some other place in ur front panel.
Hope this helps!!!!

Re: Issue with front panel control update/refresh
Your statements seem to imply this is happening with a specific VI. Is this
true, or is it happening with all VI, especially with new ones?

Re: Issue with front panel control update/refresh
I have seen this happen in 2 scenarios

1: Your video card may be having difficulty redering the VI. This happens mo
st often, in my experience, when you are trying to update many controls at a
high rate of speed. Try opening the settings of your video card and changin
g the hardware acceleration
settings to a lower level. You can do this under advanced video settings in
the Troubleshooting tab.
2: You have other controls sitting on top of the controls you are trying to
see. Some controls you seem to be able to see through, but they are actually
just the same color as the background. A panel control is a good example. A
lso, some controls have a b
order that can slightly overlap other controls.

I am not positive this will help, but I thought I would pass it on. Good luc
k.

Re: Issue with front panel control update/refresh

in response to your queries....

- i haven't tried updating my video driver yet. Our IT department give us fa
irly restricted admin access and it will be a pain to do, however if it come
s to it i'll try it..

- so far, the issues only seems to apply to one particular VI, and i haven't
been able to reproduce the issue on another VI. Yet..

- the issue occurs whether the VI is running or not. The moment I open the V
I the same group of FP controls are either completely invisible or partially
visible. If i mouse over any of them, or move them, they become wholly/part
ially visible, but if i cli
ck somewhere else, then more often than not, they disappear again.

- it appears to apply to the same group of controls, however there are simil
ar controls (boolean buttons etc) that are set up and used in exactly the sa
me way but don't appear to be affected..

- i have tried copying the VI and still have the same issue.

the only other thing that i did to the VI prior to these issues was to run i
t through a ICON editor VI that we are currently in the process of editing.
Other than that and the 8.2.1 upgrade, i can't think of anything else that w
ould have affected it..

starting to think it may just be a buggy VI and may have to re-create it whe
re i can.

thanks for your help guys..

Re: Issue with front panel control update/refresh
If can narrow down the issue to a small VI that demo's the issue please post
so others can confirm or denigh.
I saw strange issues with graphics and behaviour under 8.2.1 that went away
by running under LV 8.5. This is the primary reason I have avoided any new d
evelopment in LV 8.2.1.
