Programming Forum and web based access to our favorite programming groups.Hi, I have just bought the book Sams "Teach Yourself Java 6 in 21 Days", and am getting an error installing the JDK supplied with the book. After running "start.exe", I select the AMD 64 installation package. After the InstallShield package loads up, I get an error, "This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor.". The installation then aborts and I cannot get any further. I have an HP PC with AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor, running Windows Vista. Has anyone installed the software successfully on a similar platform, or knows what might be wrong? Thanks in advance for any help.

May be the JDK from the book is only for 32 bit machines. I suggest you to retrieve the JDK from the official sun site. To find the download page search in google "download jdk". -- Andrea Francia http://www.andreafrancia.it/

That's what counts. Install the 32 bit version, it works on either setup. -- Sabine Dinis Blochberger Op3racional www.op3racional.eu
