DD ------------------------------------ i have been in your place. any possible responsible specific reply would re quire more info than i have. i will tell you how i handled like situations. when i was an applications programmer i forwarded the call/request to someon e senior to me. when i was a senior p/a i passed the call/request to someon e senior to me. when i eventually became that someone senior fellow i becam e an educator or trainer or hand-holder; and if/when that failed i did hang up the phone... and spent ti me explaining my action to someone senior to me. most situations were handl ed with education/training. sometime you just have to hold someones hand. but there are those few wh o just need to hear a 'click'... and let the senior positions sort it out. i do not envy you your situation. new subject. i'm getting lots of comments about posting with grabit. what/ how do you prepare your posts? tia. have a good day. sss --------------= Posted using GrabIt =---------------- ------= Binary Usenet downloading made easy =--------- -= Get GrabIt for free from http://www.shemes.com/ =-

Oh... so *that's* why the chair was warm! [snip] >but >there are those few who just need to hear a 'click'... and let the >senior positions sort it out. Ahhhhhh, there's the rub... I'm an independent consultant/contractor/hired gun and I never get 'senior'... and my current Tech Lead's position seems to be, quite often, 'Please, Sir, may I have another?' He can, at times, get upset and say 'You have to be careful about talking to people that way', to which my response is 'What 'way'... you mean 'Know what you want and do your job' is 'that way'?' > >i do not envy you your situation. Hey, it beats working on the loading-dock... and is still the most fun I've had making a buck, yet. > >new subject. i'm getting lots of comments about posting with grabit. >what/how do you prepare your posts? I soak them in a mixture of water, Huy Fong Fat Chili (http://www.huyfong.com/frames/index.htm) and Koon Chun Hoisin (http://www.koonchun.com.hk/product_hoisin.html) sauces before sauteeing them over a low flame with a few razor-thin slices of garlic... sorry, couldn't resist. I use an Olde-Fashionede Unix shell account (it used to be dial-up but with modern technology I telnet into it) upon which I run trn; it is configured so that when I press 'F' to reply my editor is pico.
