enchilada
array language mavens: i'd like to draw your attention to enchilada,
a new array language designed and implemented by robbert van dalen.

according to robbert, the central purpose of enchilada is "to make
copy semantics efficient and scalable." enchilada is designed to
work transparently with very large distributed datasets.

along the way, robbert has devised a primitive set (and a single datatype
to go with them) which are quite unlike anything i've seen. his blog
(somewhat out of date) is here:

http://my.opera.com/rapido/blog/

and an early, largely superceded version of enchilada is here:

http://enchilada.javaforge.com/

robbert informs me that a new version, with extensive revisions, is
in the works.
